Heads of Schools and Senior Administrators for Independent Schools
Ted Lingenheld has recruited and placed over 50 heads of schools and senior-level administrators since his initial search in 1998. The hallmarks of our successful searches have been the suitability of the match as evidenced by the tenure of those placed; positive feedback from trustees and heads; frequently extended working relationships with search client schools, and the progress those schools have made under the leaders we placed.
Bob Hallett joined our search team in 2014 after retiring as Executive Director of The Edward E. Ford Foundation. Partnering on both the Trinity Prep (FL) and Hebron Academy (ME) searches for 2016 placements, Bob’s natural instincts for people and school challenges led to impressive outcomes in both searches.
Bob has worked with boards of trustees and heads of schools at over 500 independent schools in his former capacity, and previously served for seventeen years as headmaster of St. Paul's School in Baltimore, MD.
Chris Dorrance, who retired in 2012 as Head of Spartanburg Day School, joined School Strategies and Solutions in 2013 to assist with head and senior administrator searches. His important roles in the St. Paul’s School (FL) and Frederica Academy searches have contributed to lasting positive relationships with both schools.
Searches for heads of schools are significantly relationship-driven.
We have exceptionally strong networks in the independent school world that facilitate both finding and vetting prospective candidates. We also monitor and stay in correspondence with prospects who have been on our “radar screen” since meeting them in a prior search or from referral.
Our search consultants' skills and commitments to find the right match for each client school grew from their respective experiences in hiring teachers and administrators as school heads ourselves, and, of course, from successfully guiding trustees and heads in searches at now more than 60 independent schools.
Our search objective for each client school’s board of trustees is to ensure that they have outstanding selection options in appointing their school's next head. Our satisfaction comes from hearing members of a search committee say, “You have made our job of selecting our final candidate extremely difficult.” We take that as the highest compliment.
Our search fees will be attractive relative to most other firms, and our references will attest to a high degree of satisfaction at schools we have served. We will hold up our history of long tenures and compatibility for placed heads and administrators against any other search firm.
